二、自然地理

1.地理条件

Þórshöfn is built in the land of the land Syðralón by the east side of Lónafjörður, by a cove that was a good shipping lodge by nature and was used as a harbor from ancient times. The harbor is named after the god of thunder | Þór. Langanes stretches almost 40 km into the sea to the northeast. It is very wide to the south but narrows to the north and ends in a narrow cliff called Fontur. Framnes is the part of Langanes called, which is south of Þórshavn, midnes out to Eiðisskarð but outside it. All the farms on the peninsula are now deserted. On the headland, bogs, woods and moors alternate. It is very grassy in many places and the sheep fields are good. On the farms that are still inhabited in the middle and foreland, a handsome sheep farm is practiced. At Langanes, there have been generous fishing grounds since ancient times and fishing is practiced vigorously. There is a diverse bird life. There have long been great benefits from drifting, eider nesting and reptile income, and examples of people previously coming from the inner parts of Þistilfjörður and elsewhere for refreshment in the spring due to scurvy and other malnutrition. Rare herbs grow in Langanes, such as lichens called rock crests.

2. 交通情况

Due to the planned construction of a water supply in Bakkafjörður, bids are requested for the transport of plumbing material from Reykjavík / Selfoss to Bakkafjörður. This is considered much more cost-effective than building a new one because real estate prices are not high in Bakkafjörður. Excavators are now preparing the soil around the house, where equipment will then be built to lift the house by car.

At the harbor in Þórshöfn there are now history signs that are fun to get to know. At Skoruvíkurbjarg there is a unique viewing platform Járnkarlinn which is perhaps not for the faint of heart but gives a unique opportunity to see the rescue birds on Stóra Karl. Just outside Bakkafjörður is a very beautiful hiking trail outside Steintún and Digranes lighthouse. Outside Langanes is the deserted village of Skálar, but it has a remarkable history. There is a booklet about the village and you can buy it in the Sports Hall.

六、历史文化

1.历史

In the late 16th century, German merchants sailed to Þórshavn and called the place Dureshaue a trading post. This store closed down with the monopoly store in 1602 and the farmers then had to go to either Vopnafjörður or Húsavík to shop, but from 1684 they were sent to go to Húsavík, which was a much longer and more difficult route. This changed again in 1691 and they were allowed to shop in Vopnafjörður. There will also often have been quite a bit of a bargaining chip trade.

Merchants in Vopnafjörður and Raufarhöfn received permission from the authorities to shop in Þórshöfn in the spring of 1839 and in 1846 a trading place was registered there. Gránufélagið started sailing there in 1870 and built a fish processing house in 1884 in Heiðarhöfn, a little north of Langanes. Pöntunarfélag was founded in Langanes in 1895 and had facilities in Þórshöfn and in 1897 the Ørum & Wulff store built a store on the site. The main retailer for most of the 20th century, however, was Kaupfélag Langnesinga.

It is first known that someone lived in Þórshöfn from 1880 when the couple Helgi Eymundsson and Hólmfríður Jónsdóttir settled there, but they actually moved to the West in 1883. In 1901 there were 88 inhabitants and at the same time two other settlements were growing up. at Langanes, Skálar and Heiðarhöfn, both of which are now long deserted.

Fisheries soon became the main source of income for the population. Motorboat construction began in 1920 and in 1937 construction began on the harbor. Fishing and fish processing is still the main occupation of the villagers and the largest employer is Hraðfrystistöð Þórshafnar, which builds two ships and operates fish processing.

Þórshafnarhreppur became an independent municipality in 1946 but had previously been part of Sauðaneshreppur. The districts were reunited in 1993 and in 2006 Þórshafnarhreppur and Skeggjastaðahreppur in Langanesbyggð merged.
