Raisio is a town and municipality in south-western Finland and an important junction of major roads. The town has a population of 24,182 (31 January 2019) and is located in the region of Southwest Finland, neighbouring the region's capital, Turku. The town's land area is 48.76 km2 (18.83 sq mi), and has about 5 kilometres (3 mi) of coastline to the Bay of Raisio on its southern tip.

Raisio belongs to a young landscape area in the landscape province of the southwest coast, the southwestern agricultural region. Outside the city, Raisio has two recreation areas for all Raisio residents to spend their summer time and recreation. Kesäranta is located in Naantali Nature Land and Karhuluoto in Rymättylä.

Kesäranta camp center is a Raisio recreation area in Naantali. The center is open all year round. The camp center has, among other things, a sauna and changing rooms, a kitchen and a group room.

The center is surrounded by good outdoor activities, ball and playgrounds, a swimming pool and barbecue shelters. During 2019, the city of Raisio will build a new accommodation building in Kesäranta.

Raisio is crossed by nationally significant roads, such as the Turku ring road or E18, known in Raisio as Nesteentie. Highway 8 runs through Raisio in a south-north direction. The city's train station is not currently used for passenger transport.

Pirilän Kukkatalo is a family business in the horticultural sector founded in Raisio in 1994, which currently has 5 garden stores in southern Finland, e.g. In Riihimäki and Tuusula.

The Mylly shopping center is Finland's second largest shopping center operating outside Uusimaa and at the same time the city's second largest employer. Ikea, which opened in summer 2008, also attracts visitors. In 2017, the first Verkkokauppa.com store in the Turku region was opened in Raisio. Raisio is home to the only Bauhaus in the Turku region, which operates under the name Bauhaus Turku. The Raisio shopping center operates in the center of Raisio. 1. Raisio Church

Raisio Church is a medieval stone church located in Raisio. According to Markus Hiekkanen , the church was built in the first two decades of the 16th century, and not in the early 14th century, as previously concluded.

According to legend, the church was built by giants named Killi and Nalli. The giants quarreled over the charge with the church priest, and Killi threatened to dismantle the entire church on a boulder. After finding a suitable boulder by the sea, Killi could no longer find her back at the church and threw a boulder in front of Ruissalo. The stone is called Kukkarokiveksi, because the giant had carried it on his back in a large purse.

The church is visible: possibly the oldest Finnish headstones, Missale Aboense and the first Finnish Bible dating back to 1642.

The cemetery surrounding Raisio Church also has the Chapel of Glory, which as a building forms a covered and still melted part of the cemetery, which is said to be unique in the world.

The cemetery houses Finland's first publicly erected monument, the 1803 tombstone of Johan Bilmark , a long-time professor at the University of Turku and owner of Huhko Manor.

2. Raisio Library Building

The Raisio Library Building is the main library of the Raisio City Library, completed in June 1999, in the Vaisaari district. The library building also has an auditorium Martinsali and the city management center. The library building has triple space compared to Raisio's old main library. The Raisio Library Building is also the only library in the Raisio City Library when the Petäsmäki Library closed in the summer of 2013. The Concrete Industry Association awarded the library building and auditorium the 1999 Concrete Structure Award.

The library has, among other things, an auditorium, library halls, a magazine reading room and a music department, which are connected by a lobby area on the inner street. The uses of different parts of the building are reflected in different colors and materials both indoors and outdoors. Various concrete structures have been used in the building. The concrete exterior walls of the building are plastered with colored mortars. The façade also uses glass, cement fiber board, pre-patinated zinc boards and tarred wood carved with a hatchet. The building is surrounded by a rock garden with plantings designed by landscape architect Ria Ruokonen.

3. Raisio marina

Raisio marina that is Hahdenniemen marina is Raisio in Cana of district Raisio's Bay on the west bank located in the south-west Finland's largest, and one of Finland's largest marinas. The marina is owned by the city of Raisio and there are more than 700 berths, in addition to which there are about 600 winter storage berths for boats in the area. Raisio Marina is the home port and only a few berths are reserved for visitors.

The marina is led by a 2.4-meter-deep boat fairway, which separates from the 9-meter fairway leading to Perno Shipyard. The marina is also a popular observation point on the other side of Raisio Bay to see the Perno shipyard and the large cruise ships being built there.

he oldest known written information about Raisio is in a will from 1292, where Raisio is mentioned as the home of a priest named Elaus. This means that Raisio already had an organized congregation at that time.

Later, this began to be seen as an architectural flaw, and the center was remodeled in the early 2000s. The 1997 Housing Fair was held in Raisio in the new Kattelus residential area.

Raisio's name is due to the Raisionjoki River, which flows through the municipality and whose oldest form is known to have been the Raisajoki River.

Recent archaeological discoveries refine the picture of prehistoric Raisio. Various remains have been found in the excavations of the Ihala bubble in several early medieval and Iron Age buildings.

The town of Raisio has many cultural venues, such as the Friisilä handicrafts center, which offers the visitor a glimpse at traditional Finnish arts and crafts. The cultural center Harkko in the town center comprises an arts museum, an archaeological museum and a theatre. The city library and swimming center Ulpukka are also worth mentioning. In Raisio is also Finland's biggest middle school which is called "Vaisaaren yläkoulu".

Raisio's title plant is the juniper. It is common throughout Finland. Raisio's title bird is blackbird and the title food is porridge cooked from blood bread and salted fat. In the 1980s, herring rolls were named Raisio's second main course.

Raisio's coat of arms depicts St. Martin riding a red horse on a silver background, cutting a piece of his cloak with a sword. The coat of arms was designed by Olof Eriksson in 1954.
